Five Things That Made Me Happy (Week Recap)

Okay, so I dont have time to update my blog lately… 

Instead of listing five things per day, I will just cheat my way this week and list down five things for the entire week! :D (daya much)

  1. Dinners at Arsenał and Enoteka Polska with colleagues – food was really good for those three nights I’ve had dinner with my office folks. Both restos are located near the Ratusz Arsenał metro station. Arsenał is a good Italian resto and Enoteka Polska (our current favorite) is a wonderful wine place with good bread and fantastic food. For the two nights we’ve eaten at Enoteka Polska, I went home quite tipsy. WIN! 
  2. NYO chismis galore. Had a blast listening to nonstop gossip and stories about NYO folks. Very amusing. 
  3. OUT. HAHAHAHAHA!!! 
  4. Calendar story FTW. 
  5. Friday night chillax. SELF TIME.

Hello. :) I just did my chores for tonight — laundry, cooking, ironing, folding clothes… i dunno, im enjoying doing them for now… hahaha!

Here’s my five things for Saturday! 

  1. Figuring out how to iron a long sleeved shirt. OMG. This is the first for me — it’s the only chore I still don’t know how to do. Now I know how.
  2. Hannah Montana The Movie… in POLISH. HAHAHAHA!!! Joey and I almost strangled ourselves upon hearing polish dubbing in the movie! But yeah, we understood it — typical Disney/Love story movie formula. We both love the special appearances of Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Brooke Shields and Vanessa Williams :) I’m not a big Hannah Montana fan but I might be a convert soon. hahaha I dont know why but I got teary eyed at the ending! 
  3. Food supplies shopping at Carrefour! My kitchen is now fully stocked. I will last for weeks… :)
  4. Cooking my first dinner here — see picture below
  5. Britney Vs Pink Top 40 on MTV Hits — Wow, ang daming kanta ni Pink and Britney! MTV is playing their songs alternately. Looove it! :)

Hello Warsaw! :)

It’s Friday night, the end of the week. It’s my first week in Warsaw. It’s going to be my home for the next few months. I’m a bit excited and afraid at the same time. It’s a long way to go. But I’m sure it’s going to be one heck of an experience. 

It’s been rather hectic since I arrived here — figuring stuff out, settling in the apartment, going to work… The week was really jampacked and I barely had time to blog. I will write down more stories tomorrow but for now I will list down at least five things per day that made me happy! :D So here goes my Five Things x Five in Warsaw! :D

Monday (April 13)

  • Miascor lounge — flying business class has a lot of perks, and among them — getting to hang out in a lounge at the airport prior to boarding — with limitless supply of food, drink and free wifi!
  • Business class flight — yeah baby, 14 hours of pure reclinable seat fun. With booze too!
  • In flight entertainment system — got to watch four movies!!! :D Casino Royale, Madagascar 2, Eagle Eye and Star Dust. There were tons of movies on the playlist… maybe I’ll watch more on the flight back home :)
  • Overnight in Amsterdam! — Got to stay in Crowne Plaza at the Schipol Airport for FREE! because the flight got delayed, we had to stay overnight to catch the first flight the next day!
  • Pizza for dinner!!!

Tuesday (April 14)

  • WE’VE LANDED! Warsaw baby yeah!
  • Seeing the client HQ building for the first time!
  • Going to my apartment and finding out that I live right next to the biggest mall in Poland :D
  • Grocery shopping at Carrefour
  • First dinner with choseph … not so yummy “chinese” food but it was fun!

Wednesday (April 15)

  • Finally meeting my boss for the first time! I’ve been working with him for the past 1.5 years and I’ve never met him until now. And he taught me how to commute to the office. :D
  • Using the badge at the office… this badge is just pivotal to one of my projects… and it’s just so cool to actually use it :)
  • Meeting our translator… She’s really nice in emails and on skype but she’s really really nicer in person! :)  
  • Late lunch at the Galeria Mokotow mall just beside our office building
  • Getting lost on the tram with joey (he did not know how to go home using this tram line…) but good thing we ended up in the mall just beside my apartment. We decided to eat a good meal in an italian restaurant at the mall for dinner

Thursday (April 16)

  • Apple Kawawa news… but seriously… 
  • Gyro Pita for late lunch!!! Super yummmmy
  • Calling Jez on skype pretending to have a bazillion of questions about work but in reality, I just wanted to hear voices of people I love back in the Manila office :)
  • Dinner party at officemate’s apartment — sort of had the Haggadah (Passover meal) — it was very educational and quite an experience. The food was fantastic! And I had a looot of wine! :D
  • Meeting a lot of new people of various nationalities! United nations much?? :D

Friday (April 17)

  • Going to the office finally on my own :D I am my own independent self
  • Meeting my SME for the very first time and giving him an update on my own too :)  
  • Going home early to talk to mom on YM phone call :D love catching up
  • H&M shopping spree. Carrefour shopping for non food stuff.
  • Time for self! — Bubble bath — yehmen. Chilled out in the tub after a tiring week! (naks diz iz zeh life) Doing laundry for the first time on a machine that has alien buttons and symbols — mom will be so proud! American idol! Finally got to watch the last two episodes! 

Yey!!! I’m done updating now. :) I will post another tomorrow and elaborate on the fun things I’ve seen, experienced or discovered during my first week in warsaw :) With more structure and a bit more of coherence I hope. :)

Happy Easter!!! :)

  1. waking up to mom’s attempts of pulling me out of the bed to go to my cousin’s pharmacy opening. well, she failed quite miserably of getting me out of bed. it was just nice that she just let me doze off and sleep and miss out on the entire thing.
  2. Pepper Lunch at Shang with mom, dad, kuya, chie, grace, kuya ching and raqitots!!! fun! :D favorite lunch place ever
  3. travel iron ftw!!! i have to learn how to plantsa! omg. kuya goes — “kaya mo na yaaan, iinternet mo na lang”
  4. crema de fruta from ate chinky!
  5. home service 1 hour massage! :D

I’ve been friends with someone who has a very influential family name and I must say who can have access to a lot of power and privilege. I’ve known this person for quite a while now and I’m just truly impressed and blown away by how humble and down-to-earth this person is (along with the siblings). This person has become a constant source of wisdom and courage for me — more than this person will ever know. And I am forever thankful. I’ve known other people of my age coming from influential families as well — and more often than not, I just want to bonk them in the head for just being annoyingly bratty and maarte and ditzy and just plain useless airheads. Seriously.

The name does not define this person. And this endears this person to me much more.

I know you dont want to be named here.

I know you know that you are the one I’m talking about. :)

This one’s for you. Thanks for everything! Here’s to more years of friendship ;)

Spent half of the day sleeping… I took an antihistamine the night before to make sure I get a lot of zzzzs…. sarap matulog!

Here’s my list of 5 things for this Good Friday :)

  1. Street Fighter on PS3! hahahaha old school… not!
  2. buying ice cream with kuya at 711
  3. finally got started with packing
  4. cooked lasagna for dinner!

Yehey, finally, a five things post written on the day itself! hahaha! It’s Maundy Thursday… day of visita iglesia :) Went on visita iglesia with mom and dad… the route we took this year was a bit different coz I requested that we go to Sta. Clara :)

So… aside from a day of prayer and reflections, here’s my list of 5 things for thursday –

  1. Kare kare for lunch :D
  2. Being able to watch the AI results show without knowing who actually got booted out! Thanks for not spoiling.
  3. Chatting with the two Robredo sisters. hahaha kakatuwa sila eh :) mana lang sa ate aiks.
  4. Posting my Cha and Apple blog post! medyo natagalan akong maghanap ng photos… grabe, tinatago na kasi yung mga pictures na yon… sobrang luma na. Hahaha! Loves the old nene days… :)  
  5. Happy dinner at home with family. Simple joys :)
