This has got to be my favorite Sarah Bareilles song. Listening to the lyrics breaks my heart little by little that I am turned into a useless heap of blah-ness after the song ends.
I’ve posted several entries about this song before.
Funny how I’m writing about it again one year after.
The only difference is that there’s a video now –
The video is just HEAVENLY! (lots of heavenly bodies, that is) But it’s so smartly done, I love how it’s so literal yet so creative at the same time. Nerdiness + Emoness = Happiness!
And even though there’s me turning into a pile of blah-ness, watching it makes me feel so good
A lot has changed but seems like the song still captures it all. I am still within the gravitational field even though the radius is quite relatively huge now.
Gravity –
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone.
You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.
CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.
You loved me ’cause I’m fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.
CHORUS
Set me free, leave me be. I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.
I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you’re everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you’re neither friend nor foe though I can’t seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down
I stepped out of my apartment with no plans in mind. With just a map in hand, I walked around my area and went with my guts.
I came across this Mini Europe deli and got some bread for lunch. Then decided to walk some more along Bonifraterska. Surprisingly, I ended up in the Monument to the Warsaw Uprising at Dluga and the Karisinskich Palace. (Note to self: Read about these places some more). It’s a touristy place and I ended there by chance. I love it.
I then decided to go to the Ratusz Arsenal metro stop and took the train and the tram to get to the Galeria Mokotow (the mall near our office). Got some shopping done… Loving H&M and Zara, seriously
Today has taught me that sometimes you just got to let go and end up finding exactly what you needed.
It’s Friday night, the end of the week. It’s my first week in Warsaw. It’s going to be my home for the next few months. I’m a bit excited and afraid at the same time. It’s a long way to go. But I’m sure it’s going to be one heck of an experience.
It’s been rather hectic since I arrived here — figuring stuff out, settling in the apartment, going to work… The week was really jampacked and I barely had time to blog. I will write down more stories tomorrow but for now I will list down at least five things per day that made me happy! So here goes my Five Things x Five in Warsaw!
Monday (April 13)
Miascor lounge — flying business class has a lot of perks, and among them — getting to hang out in a lounge at the airport prior to boarding — with limitless supply of food, drink and free wifi!
Business class flight — yeah baby, 14 hours of pure reclinable seat fun. With booze too!
In flight entertainment system — got to watch four movies!!! Casino Royale, Madagascar 2, Eagle Eye and Star Dust. There were tons of movies on the playlist… maybe I’ll watch more on the flight back home
Overnight in Amsterdam! — Got to stay in Crowne Plaza at the Schipol Airport for FREE! because the flight got delayed, we had to stay overnight to catch the first flight the next day!

Finally meeting my boss for the first time! I’ve been working with him for the past 1.5 years and I’ve never met him until now. And he taught me how to commute to the office.
Using the badge at the office… this badge is just pivotal to one of my projects… and it’s just so cool to actually use it
Meeting our translator… She’s really nice in emails and on skype but she’s really really nicer in person!
Late lunch at the Galeria Mokotow mall just beside our office building
Getting lost on the tram with joey (he did not know how to go home using this tram line…) but good thing we ended up in the mall just beside my apartment. We decided to eat a good meal in an italian restaurant at the mall for dinner

Yey!!! I’m done updating now. I will post another tomorrow and elaborate on the fun things I’ve seen, experienced or discovered during my first week in warsaw With more structure and a bit more of coherence I hope.
I just found out about this song on the plane en route to Amsterdam… It’s part of the Exclusive Album but I dont think I’ve ever heard this before! O_O
I love the last verses where he reversed the “mean things”.
I will update my blog this weekend! I am still jetlagged, and will be immersed in a lot of work and adjusting in my new temporary home for the next weeks/months.
[Verse 4]
Baby I know
I know that they done hurt you
But I’m here
Let’s take it all away
So if you let me…
You know what, just put your heart in my hands
And everything they say, I take it back
Like this…
[reversed last verse]
[Verse 5]
You don’t mean nothing, [reversed line]
I don’t want ya, [reversed line]
I don’t need ya, [reversed line]
Never loved ya, [reversed line]
You’re nobody, [reversed line]
And we‘ll never make it, [reversed line]
You’re a mistake (ooh), [reversed line]
So yeah, I’m saying I love you to the whole world. It may not be directed to anyone in particular. It may not be a feeling I hold for someone. It’s an emotion I’m just trying to send out to the world…
…and maybe, it can come back to me
** I found this link about sharing your love to the world so I decided to plurk about it and post it on my blog too
